one of us

Jake went on a boys jeeping trip to St. George this past weekend and we sure missed our man.  He is keeping this house together, well, keeping it all together and 3 days without him was a little rough.  Let's just say we watched some movies, stayed in our pj's a little too long, and never ate at the right time.  And the house looks a little sad as well.  Gosh, that Jake sure does a lot for us.  Little Myer kept looking at me like, this is not how dad does it.  I didn't have the morning routine right, I couldn't wrestle right, and apparently Myer is a shower-only man.  So we'll just wait for dad on that one too.

I was there for morning wake-up time.  I was there for oatmeal breakfast with blueberries.  And I was there for morning breath snuggles.  All 3 days just M and I.  I loved the bonding time, but let's be honest, we aren't us without Jake.  We were happy when he came home.  And very aware of what he does in this house.  We love him so.

old towne grill

Thought we'd adventure a little down south to Provo Friday night and try the Old Towne Grill.  We got amazing food with very good prices.  The food was fresh and oh so yummy.  My sister and her husband were bold enough to try a new place with us.  And we're glad they did since they will be moving to Minnesota in the next few months.  I don't even want to talk about how both of my married sisters are not living in the same state as me.  We'll just keep trying new places until I loose her to the tundra.  But this one was a gold mine.  We will be visiting Old Towne Grill again.  Thanks Jessie and Carson for being last minute and adventurous with the Morses.

a letter

Myer-

22 months today!  So if the math works out, that means in 2 months you'll be 2.  Wow-zer.  I'm having a hard time imagining us with a 2 year old.  But every day you seem more grown up so I guess I'll let you turn 2...Here are some of the things you are doing or saying lately that make my day daily:

-You like to count.  But not in order, "fife, two, sick."
-Every thing is put into rows--cars, fridge magnets, my stuff under the bathroom sink, etc.
-It started out as "pease?"  Then moved to "pease? tay." Then to "pea-tay." And now it's "otay otay otay".
-In each room you have to turn on and off the lights.  Doesn't matter where we are.
-You are switching from a sippy cup to a cup and doing so well.
-When you get ornery we know you need a good wrestle.  And that's every night before bed.
-You love nursery.
-Things you are saying: "tome on", "I need", "scarreee", "a gin?",  "woah", "tank you much", "get me!"
-Things you are signing: PLEASE, SORRY, SOCKS, GAME, HELP, THIRSTY, THANK YOU, TOAST, BREAD, BIKE, READ BOOK, and SLEEP.
-You like to "dip" your food in anything.  Even in water.
-You are starting to recognize the alphabet letters especially A,B, and C.
-When you really like something you scream, "yaay is so funnn!" while clapping your hands.
-You have to walk everywhere. It's impossible to carry you.
-You finally like your shape tool set that we got you last Christmas.  You treat it as a speed game and you whip through it so fast putting the shapes in the right holes.
-Cereal after every meal.  Just like your father.
-You call your dad, "Jake".  Whoops.
-Favorite songs are "Head Shoulders Knees and Toes", "We are a Happy Family", and "Chica-Chica-Boom-Boom".
-You love your family and you like to list off their names when we're driving in the car.  Even your great grandparents

We have definitely reached over the baby line and into the toddler stage.  Gosh, in 2 more months we will be writing a milestone of a letter.  You are a real bright spot in our lives.  Always happy, adventurous, silly, busy, but sensitive, pensive, specific, and intent.  You are the best thing that's happened to us and we are complete.  I love you little boy of mine.

-Mom

*and slept in! twice.

I'm so glad it was a 3 day weekend.  Yours?

happy weekend. or happy trails...

This just puts me in the mood for travel.
I always thought life should have random moments of song,
kinda like a musical...
And I always thought in life there should be lots of travel.
So this clip seems pretty perfect to me.

I need a vacation.

I'll live through these people either departing or arriving from a warmer destination than here.
Happy travels.
err weekend.

after the snow settled

The one benefit of having all this snow, that just keeps coming, is it makes for one beautiful place to live.  Utah's been showing off with amazing views lately that I couldn't help but snap a few.  We live just beneath these mountains and I pass the temple every day to work.  It's breathtaking.  I'll keep dealing with the freezing temperatures and icy roads as long as I get this kind of amped-up scenery.  If I have to.

and here it is

Sonya Tayeh choreographed the following combination.
She's up on stage and my sister Sierra is the one of the left in the blue bickers and pink unitard.
I'm gonna brag--Sonya picked Sierra along with a few others to demonstrate to the class
and I jumped on it with my camera.

Proud moment.
A proud minute and 17 seconds to be exact.
Go Sierra go.

they danced. I watched.

My sister, Jessie's, dance company competed in the 24 seven Dance Convention/Competition this weekend.  My other sister, Sierra who is in Jessie's company competed with her team as well as individually for scholarships. It was a weekend full of eye lashes, rhinestones, shazam worthy music, and no sleep but the dancing was stellar.  Jessie choreographed beautiful pieces; one never the same and Sierra is one gorgeous dancer herself.  These two have enough talent for the whole family.  I was proud to be the observer, cheerleader, and photographer for the weekend and loved that they wanted me along.  I even recorded the combination from Sonya's class... next post?

Congrats Jessie and Sierra for a weekend that deserves some kudos.  You two impress me to no end.  Thanks for letting me tag along!

for now

A common site over here.

All 3 of us are sick.
Blame Myer, he started it
which he gave to me. And now Jake.
Odd how a family can bond over a box of kleenexes.

back to work

This morning I returned to back to work.
Back to reality.
I indeed loved my time off and my time with my family.
The next time I have off is January 21st, MLK day.
I can do it.  I can do it.  I can do it?

on the board again

After being pregnant with then Myer and then actually having Myer, I haven't been boarding for the past 2 years.  I was not going to miss out on another season so we hit up Snowbird (thank you phillips 66 for those 2 for 1's) and boarded with my brothers and brothers in laws last week.

And thank you Utah for fresh new snow.  It was a gorgeous day.  This Utah girl is happy.

stepping into 2013

I hope my Christmas candy will last me more than just a week.
I hope I can visit my sister in Minnesota this year.
I hope to start potty training Myer.
I hope there won't be any major construction projects for the state of Utah.
I hope this year Jake gets a job that he just loves.
I hope I can finish my year at AF high school.
I hope our dear friend, Devin Dayley, can come home from hospital.
I hope for snow just in the mountains, not in the valley.
I hope for a good year, not a better year because this year was memorable.

I don't think we've been stronger, more loving, or happy.  I'm not really sure how you could get a better year than 2012. (Ok, a job for Jake would top the cake) But I am thankful for what happened to us and this year will go down as one of our best.  So we'll step in 2013 and see what it has in store for us.  Here we go...
