Cirque du Soleil-- "Joya"

The highlight of the trip!  We thought we only had tickets to see the show, but we had tickets for the dinner as well-- a "gourmet experience" and a table right up at the front. Oh yeah! And that was the best part because the food was incredible.
I'm probably not describing these amazing platters adequately, so excuse my lack of foodie vocabulary.  Just know, that the food was amazing and I've never had a meal so ritzy.  You could even eat the menu!

They first brought out the appetizer plate which had smoked salmon, ham and mango caviar, crab salad, and goat cheese.  And yes there is dry ice coming out of that planter.

Then the main course-- I had the salmon and Jake had the Roast.
And then dessert came in a wooden book!!!! There were 4 different desserts-- dark chocolate cake, tropical pudding, fruit tart, and creme brulee.  AMAZING.  Jake and I were the nerdy couple up front "oohing" and "ahhing" over each bite.

Then of course we still had the show which was equally amazing.  They had a juggler, a contortionist, Chinese acrobats, a tramp as large as the stage, gymnasts, jiu jitsu pirates, trapeze artists, etc. etc. etc!!  Add all the gourmet food on top of it?  Made for a very memorable night.  Another perk from Landvoice.  I cannot thank Jake's work enough for this trip.  Thank you thank you!!

Alison's Candy Shop Dance Party

When Alison throws a dance party you jump at the tickets, go, and grab your best dance pal (aka my sister)  We drank free Sodalicious, snacked on candies, snapped photos in photo booth, and danced the night away.  It was only for a few hours just to let loose and shake out all our mommy troubles away.  Thanks Alison for another great night! You sure know how to throw a "sweet" party.

a pizza truck

Called Fiore.  This kind of pizza is my happy place.  I am thrilled to know that it is on a moving truck that comes to my city every weekend.  Or am I in trouble?  It was a hit for the whole family so yes, we'll be in line again this coming weekend.  Forever customer!

the weekend run down

*played the free games at the Ampitheater for AF Steel Days
*died in this heat
*let Myer stay up past his bedtime for his first movie
*attended a baby shower for a little Hopi Princess
*got my first taste of Lemon San Pellegrino and fell in love
*Myer helped Jake rotate the Jeep tires
*sprayed weed killer on our poor little lawn for the 3rd time
*made home-made rootbeer floats
*treated myself to organizing our first ever file cabinet as a married couple
*thought we rented The Dark Knight Rises, but actually brought home the Batman cartoon...
*bought our double stroller

Although hot, it was busy weekend.  I'm going to need a lot more of those Lemon San Pellegrinos to keep myself cool.  Hello Monday!

around La Jolla

We ate so good on this trip.  Yelp shout-out for sure.  We ate at Puesto, Burger Lounge, and Sammy's Pizza & Grill.  We inhaled dinner.  There is something about spending all day in the sun and beach that makes me so hungry.  Or is that just me at 15 weeks pregnant?

We also weren't scared to get us some dessert, but for some reason those went too quickly before I could snap a picture.  La Jolla treated us to it's best.  Omm nomm nomm yum.

waffle luv

I surprised Jake to waffles Friday night.  It's his favorite food.  So we stopped by the Waffle Luv truck and had ourselves a party of strawberries, waffles, and cream.  Yum.  This may be an every Friday night occurrence.  Thanks Waffle truck, we felt the luv.

old towne grill

Thought we'd adventure a little down south to Provo Friday night and try the Old Towne Grill.  We got amazing food with very good prices.  The food was fresh and oh so yummy.  My sister and her husband were bold enough to try a new place with us.  And we're glad they did since they will be moving to Minnesota in the next few months.  I don't even want to talk about how both of my married sisters are not living in the same state as me.  We'll just keep trying new places until I loose her to the tundra.  But this one was a gold mine.  We will be visiting Old Towne Grill again.  Thanks Jessie and Carson for being last minute and adventurous with the Morses.

food for thought

On a mommy-daughter lunch outgoing,
my mom took us to Food for Thought.
Most darling place.
And the food is equally delicious.

I had the turkey bacon avocado sandwich with the thai chicken salad.
And I certainly didn't forget about dessert with a lovely lemon bar.
This was totally a chick place but Jake is just going to have to deal cause I'm going there again.
Or better yet, let's have a girls lunch.
Who's with me?
I'm truly serious.

hello monday

Our weekend was good to us.

*Five Guys and french fries for dinner
*Jake babysat so I could chat it up with some dear friends
*Stayed out way too late
*a 2 hour nap
*took a walk around in the cold but sunny weather
*ate some Chinese food and fortune cookies
*made my own studded gold collar (more on that later)
*watched Cowboys and Aliens on netflix
*and grabbed our favorite dessert from The Sweet Tooth Fairy

I think I am ready to start this week.
Certainly with a full belly.

fresh produce

Recently, I've joined a fresh produce co-op with this lovely lady.
We get fresh produce every 2 weeks.
Last basket we got:
Romaine,
Kale,
Peaches
Plums,
Cauliflower,
Apples,
and Blueberries.

We get to pick up our next basket this coming Monday,
and I can't wait for what we get this time.

This has really made me use veggies and fruits in our meals.
(last night I made Potato-Kale Hash-browns and Jake actually ate it!)
And I've never seen produce this good.
The Romaine lettuce was perfect. Awesome!

Since I can't have a garden, I think this is a pretty good alternative.
