i got a text

from my dad today.
and it read:

i came across a favorite quote.
it's from dr. maya angelou, a famous black woman
who has done much to build women's self esteem across the country.

"always, i hope to grow brighter, funnier.
i hope to learn to be even
more well rounded.

but right now i cannot be any better than i am."

all of us can only do our current best.
that is all others can receive from us.
it is all that we can expect from ourselves.

i thought this might bring you some encouragement.
