baby shower time (and 36 weeks)

Last night my close friends threw me a shower with nummy food, awesome cupcakes, and thoughtful gifts. If you ever want to feel loved, have a shower.  They sure went above and beyond.  Thanks friends.

Today will be another shower.  It's a party.

oh, and I'm 36 weeks.
Let the countdown begin...

about stoneground

It was yummy. Perfect for Valentine's Day.  Maybe we were slow to finally figure out this gold mine was here but we are going back again.  No doubt.  Jake had their beef sirloin and I had some amazing pasta dish the waitress recommended.

it was worth our wait.

I love restaurants like this: not your typical food chain, simple paper menus, artwork displayed by local artists, and you know the cook has taken risks with food. When we are up in the SLC again, we be going there.  Oh and their root beer from the tap itself is worth the drive...

the best pregnancy tip ever

A friend of mine told me this story about her aunt.  It's worth reading. Promise.

Her aunt, being 9 months prego, was grocery shopping and just so happened to be in the pickle isle.  All of a sudden, her water broke.  Immediately, she grabbed a jar of pickles, smashed it to the floor, and walked away.

Smartest woman ever.

So don't judge me if you see me carrying around a jar of pickles.  I'm a little nervous when that wonderful gush will happen (teaching high school, interpreting at college, or at the grocery store) or not happen, and I think this is the perfect way to not embarrass myself.

busy v-day

Yes it's 11:00 p.m. on Valentine's Day.  Would you believe me if I just walked through the door?  Got up at 6, taught from 7:45-9:15, interpreted 10:30-3:00, interpreted play practice 3:00-6:00, drove to AF hospital, and then attended our first prenatal class 7:00-9:45.  It was a full day. (and yes I did eat in there somewhere...). But it is still Valentine's Day nonetheless, even if I am finally enjoying it for just a half hour.

During my busy day, I get a text from my UVU boss asking to come into the office after my last class.  Instant thought: I'm in trouble. So I stress all day, going through each client, teacher, team, etc.  Nothing comes to mind.  Finally I am done, I speed walk up the office, and low-and-behold, there are flowers for me in the break room from Jake.  Sweet surprise hubs.  I'll take that over a talk with my boss.  But that's not all...

Yes, I was greeted by these lovelies walking through the door 10:00 at night.  (Would you believe me if I already ate two???)  Forget chocolates, give me cupcakes!

Red velvet cake....oh. yum.
Super spoiled cause on Saturday I got a maternity massage (heaven being on my tummy.  Just bliss) and then we were daring and tried a new place called Stoneground.  (more on that later....) So today I wasn't really expecting anything but secretly I was...thanks Jake for reading my mind.  Cupcakes: how did you know???

remember this shirt?

It's a little more snug now...as it should since I have a month and a half left. Wow.

I've been enjoying every month, week, and day of this pregnancy.  Hopefully I haven't complained too much because we have wanted this from the very beginning.  Quite honestly, Jake and I were in the middle of doctor appointments and were just newly pregnant without even knowing it.  Truly a miracle for us. We have friends who are in the same boat as we were and we think, how can this be?  All I know is that it all works out according to each little family.  I truly believe this baby is coming when he is supposed to no matter how much we wanted him to come earlier. Life works out. In weird and unplanned ways certainly, but after looking back, we wouldn't want it any other way. Silly us.

And we are truly loving the whole experience--the bad--multiple bathroom trips, violent leg cramps, hysterical outbursts, purple hair (hormones...) and the good-- setting up the crib together, black and white ultrasound pics, his little heel against my right rib, texting possible names back and forth daily, and becoming a little family.

So dear little Mr. Morse- mom and dad are more than thrilled you are coming and are humbled to be your parents.  We hope we can do as good as job as the parents who sent you here. Until then, we are anxiously awaiting your arrival.  Just a few more weeks...Again, wow.

in his sleep

Lately Jake's been talking in his sleep more than usual.
Could be the stress of school, work, and a little one on the way.  Possibly.
Let's share some of my favorites, shall we??

Me (noticing that Jake is sleeping at the bottom of the bed): "what are you doing down there?"
Jake: "I gotta blow my nose..."

Jake: "Aren't you supposed to brush your hair everynight?"
Me: "Who told you that?"
Jake: "Little House on the Prairie."

Jake: (loudly): "Put 'em up!"
Me: "Put what up?"
Jake: (fists up): "I can take you!" as he proceeds to upper-cut and punch the air.

Jake: "Either turn your head and cough, or close your eyes and cough."

Oh Jake...I'm really quite happy I get up twice every night to pee so I can have these little conversations with you.  Sorry for the stress, but not really, cause it's hilarious.
