around La Jolla

We ate so good on this trip.  Yelp shout-out for sure.  We ate at Puesto, Burger Lounge, and Sammy's Pizza & Grill.  We inhaled dinner.  There is something about spending all day in the sun and beach that makes me so hungry.  Or is that just me at 15 weeks pregnant?

We also weren't scared to get us some dessert, but for some reason those went too quickly before I could snap a picture.  La Jolla treated us to it's best.  Omm nomm nomm yum.

over the hill

Had to visit the all talked about new Traverse Mountain Outlet Mall this weekend.  With it all decked out in Christmas wreaths and trees, it was quite the opening.  I can't believe that the holidays are almost here.  We'll talk about that later, but I loved the twinkle lights nonetheless.  We are excited, or in trouble, with these outlets are so close.  As much as I love Park City, I love saving on gas too.  I'm thinking I'm in trouble with those so close to me...ya, trouble.

City Creek Center

You can't come to Utah unless you visit the newest "it" spot, aka City Creek Center so we took Jamie and the kids.  This was my first time too, and I did not mind the 40 min drive to do my shopping here.  I think I about died when I saw jcrew, H&M, and Anthropologie (coming soon) all next to each other.  Yummy.  The kids liked the fountains and little fish they'd spot in the creek.  Don't you just love Maddix's pose?  He saw my brother Oakley crouch down for a pic and this is what we got from sweet little Mad dog each time.  I just love him.

Of course Myer took matter into his own hands and had to push the stroller the.entire.time.  Gah.  So we saw City Creek in detail, but not all of it.  So it gives us an excuse to come up again.  And again, I'm sure.  A new favorite spot?  Heck yes!

bijou, bijou, bless you

Amidst the crazy crazy busy weekend
I pinched in a stop at bijou market.
Picked up a pillow to start off the family room re-make
and two prints to finally finish my kitchen collage.

I spy a colorful theme...

So many other fun things at the market like wrapping paper,
jewelry, headbands, wooden cars, signs, bow ties, onsies, and even birthday banners.
Not sure how I walked out of there with only 3 things in my hand...
Bijou gets me every time.
Christmas, again, may be another story.

food for thought

On a mommy-daughter lunch outgoing,
my mom took us to Food for Thought.
Most darling place.
And the food is equally delicious.

I had the turkey bacon avocado sandwich with the thai chicken salad.
And I certainly didn't forget about dessert with a lovely lemon bar.
This was totally a chick place but Jake is just going to have to deal cause I'm going there again.
Or better yet, let's have a girls lunch.
Who's with me?
I'm truly serious.

free and easy v-day crafty

I am not a craft person.  But I totally had to make this Happy Heart Paint Chip Garland as the supplies were free.  Free.  But, since sewing and I aren't friends, and mostly lack there of said sewing machine, I just hole punched the sides and strung the hearts together with twine. And presto!

I was so proud of myself I made two.  Head on over the Coterie Blog for the full skinny and run down.  And those of you with sewing machines, have at it.  I think this garland may even be possible with other holidays...I like it!

gold and studded

As I mentioned in my last post I made myself a gold studded collar
My thumbs are bruised but I love the end result!
Who wants to pay for one when they could just make it?
I love it.

Check out Alison's blog The Alison Show and see what other projects
you want to take on for yourself.
I love Alison and her do-able crafts.
Seriously you'll fall in love.

Thanks Alison for the fun craft!

my mama said

Thinking we'd be in the unemployment situation for a while, we sold Jake's jeep.  That leaves us to one car which goes with Jake to work everyday.  That leaves me stuck inside a two bedroom little cottage with a 9 month old in the middle of winter...we get bored.  Don't get me wrong, we do plenty in a day like playing cars, rolling the soccer ball back and forth, crawl around with Daisy, fill the sink up with water, read books, bang on pans, eat, sing songs, etc. etc. but that gets old by the middle of the week.  Luckily, my parents live close so they come to get us for a little change of scenery.  Yesterday, as I was hanging out at my mom's, we found her old sketch pad.  She is an artist, and growing up, most of all the artwork in our house was from my mom's hand.  (Don't ask me how that wasn't passed down to me).  Super talented that woman.  And I found one of those talents from her high school notebook.  And she has a little sense of humor too...

I had to take a picture because Myer is the fish on the left, and I'm the fish on the right.  Oh dear Mama, you said it.

my bijou market loot

Well friends once again, I didn't get any Christmas shopping done.
It was a "successful" trip for me and M.

I got a couple prints for a collage I'm doing in the kitchen,
some earrings,
cards,
and a beanie for M.

Next year I'm not even going to shop with the pretense of Christmas shopping.
After two years now it's not going to happen for a third.

Anyways,
I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving.
I'll be spending it with my family down in Vegas at Jessie and Carson's.
(Be sure to tune in to hear all about the six hour car ride with Mr. M, and how 14 of us fit in a one bedroom apartment for Thanksgiving dinner...)

And we are off!
Later gaters.

bijou market

This is my favorite thing each November: Bijou Market.  (you've heard me rave about it here)  It's back again and coming to two locations-- Provo and SLC.  It's been on my calendar for months and I seriously can't wait to get my shopping on.  And with the holidays fast approaching, this is where I get most of my Christmas shopping done. Well try anyway.  I always leave with more things for myself....Added bonus, they show you what vendors are coming and their products so you can pre-plan and get exactly what you want for everyone on your list.  Click here for the website and get shopping!
