this time last year

we were getting ready for our trip to cancun. but this year i'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving at home. our nachos were great and everything for our Thanksgiving meal, but you really can't replace the turkey, potatoes, and pumpkin pie.  (trust me, i will eat all of it. i've already told the little mr. he can't be picky)

and we are going to try our luck at Black Friday shopping.  (are we insane?)  we are new at this and i think i'm going to record the whole thing.  should be hilarious.  really looking forward to next week.  bring on the holidays!

have you ever been to ruth's diner?

well, if you haven't you should go.
it's up immigration canyon,
dining is outside,
so it's beautiful. surrounded by trees and the mountain how could it not?
and the food is really good.

i'm thinking i wanna go up again as the leaves start changing...
food and fall leaves--my kind of restaurant.

hi. i'm alive

so.....
it's been a crazy first two weeks of school.
(obviously as i have been out of touch.)
but amidst the craziness i've learned a few valuable things:

two alarms never hurt anyone.
lunch can be eaten at 2:00.
red pens do in fact multiply and replenish the earth.
jake doesn't know sign language. especially when he is asleep.
mouthing "watermelon" for the fight song isn't going to fly with student body officers in my class.
the polite response is, "no this is not my first year at high school, i'm the teacher."
it's nice to know there always is dessert waiting at home for me.

so fun learning valuable things.

here's to what tomorrow will bring.
(i'll let you know if i learn more.)

park city and a little bit of deer valley

we took a little trip to park city this weekend
and pola was nice enough to come along.

we ate ourselves silly--
my favorite part of the trip.

and of course enjoyed historic main street.

our lovely hotel: the Chateau in Deer Valley.
such a random find but a gold mine.

jake's favorite part of the trip.

it was a quick trip but much needed.
i think jake can handle fall semester now.
he has one year left. (yay!)
anything i can do keep the man motivated...sigh.
tough life.
