a letter

Myer-
Hey there 4 month old baby!  I feel like the time between 3 and 4 months was quite a jump.  You already look like a little boy, no longer a newborn, and your personality has shown through.  You still are a chunk though with the frists, cankles, and extra rolls around the knees so that's how I know you're still my baby.  But you can move and do so much!

Your hands are more controlled- you can reach out and grasp toys, raise your thumb to your mouth, and let's not forget about your toes. Oh how you love to hold your toes. Every time we lay you down those toes are in your hands.  Sitting up is also getting there.  You can sit with your arms on the ground out in front of you like a tripod, but not very long cause let's be honest, the chubs makes for extra weight.  The bimbo is your favorite place to hang out while you talk to the bookshelf, but if you had it your way, you'd rather stand.  All day.  Sometimes that is all we do: hang out on the blanket, I hold your hands, and you stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down...

What melts our hearts is that you recognize who mom is and who dad is.  With me you are cuddly, talkative, and reach for my face and hands.  Once Dad picks you up, oh goodness, you shriek, laugh, and grunt cause you know you're gonna get a wrestle. And that shriek, is like a "come and get me" taunt and that totally gets your dad around your little finger. Smart.

Another moment that we can't forget is when you see Daisy, the landlord's dog.  Never fails, every time, you erupt in laughter. I think you sense her playful spirit. (cause you certainly don't do that with their cat.)  I think it's a sign that we need to get a dog, Jake?

Only two more months and you'll be a half of a year old!  Crazy how quickly you learn, grow, and get such a personality in such short time.  It amazes me that your body knows the necessary steps to get you to sit up, crawl, stand, etc. Truly a miracle, and I feel honored to be a part of this and see you grow every day.  Can't wait to see what this next month will bring (hopefully not more teeth...)

Love you,
-Mom
