sister time

My dear sister, Jessie, took me to the annual Thriller production.  Weird not having any of my sisters in it this year, but it's always a fabulous show.  Halloween just isn't the same without it!  Thanks Jess for thinking of me.  I loved being your date.

my early birthday date

We went out early for my birthday last weekend only because it was the only night we could find a babysitter.  So we ran with it.  We ran all the way up to Salt Lake and ate at Blue Iguana.  Ever since I had Myer, I cannot get enough mexican so those enchiladas hit the spot.  Then we walked around City Creek.  Walked.  Strolled.  So nice.  Then to finish our date off, we ended with key lime tarts.  My idea of the ultimate birthday treat.  Me and key lime go way back.

The best part of the night was being with Jake.  We needed this time just us.  I'm so glad birthdays come around at least once a year so we can plan these special dates.  Cause I think he's pretty special.
As always, thanks Jake for spoiling me.
I love spending birthdays with you.

the weekend run-down

--slept in till 8:45 on Saturday
--Myer's hair is finally growing out from his awful haircut
--Jake and I went out for an early birthday date (more on that when my birthday arrives)
--the last of the Halloween decorations are up
--hung out with my students at a Storytelling gathering at Provo High. Myer loved the extra attention.
--packed away some of Myer's baby clothes and made room for big boy clothes
--learned how to ride a scooter
--we're 1 1/2 going on 15
--the end of the term is this Friday
--and naturally all the Halloween candy is already gone.

And that be the weekend run-down.  Hi Monday!

the pumpkin patch

On the last day of Fall Break we finished it off in true Fall fashion by hitting up Corn Belly's with my mom and brother.  We were surprised, this was no small pumpkin patch. It was a little boys playground with all the tractors, cow trains, and wooden slides in shapes of buses and trucks.  We couldn't get enough.  His favorite, and well our favorite, was the hay ride pulled by a tractor.  And as if the driver knew the little wish of M, he turned the flashing lights on as it got dark.  The night was complete.  I love experiencing a simple pumpkin patch through the eyes of my son.

Then we left for home with 3 new pumpkins in our arms.  Myer picked out his own and held it so tight.  He calls it his "pun-min" and even signs it.  He's catching on real quick that October is an important month over here.

and the scenery

Speaks for itself.
Park City you have my heart.

back from the city. park city.

We seemed to jam everything you could possibly do in Park City during our 3 day stay.  Except for the fact we stayed right next to the outlet mall and we didn't even step over there.  Can I get a whoop whoop for the self restraint??

The weather was a little chilly but perfect for leaf gathering and walks.  We even braved a chilly morning to watch the Olympic Ski Jump Athletes practice up at the Utah Olympic Park.  I'm more impressed they continually got out of that pool into the cold air.  Olympians for sure.

Park City as always was a great host.  I think we can keep going.  At least till Thanksgiving break that is.

watching conference

With a little help from food, cars, blocks, and coloring mommy's notes we soaked up General Conference.  Well, as much as you can with a toddler.  Food was a big help for all of us.  Obviously.

And I had to run over to my parents house to give my 16 year old bro a big hug as now I only have 2 years left with him instead of 3 before he serves an LDS mission.  But I love his excitement and readiness to go.  This will be my first experience of sending off a missionary so I can't believe it's even closer.  Wow.

I say this every time, but I love these weekends.  Every body needs a little boost, reminder, love, and inspiration every once in a while.  Hope you felt that way too because the Morse family felt it all.

fall for friday

Took this picture on our drive up Provo Canyon last weekend.  Seems like this year fall is looking a little neon.  I love the vibrant reds among the still green trees.  Breathtaking.  This weekend temperatures are going to drop a little so Fall will really be here--coats, tights, scarves, and turtlenecks come out, come out, wherever you are!

Have a lovely fall weekend!

Bryton

a jeep ride

Oh Myer has a great Uncle.
Uncle Mitch took us for a ride in his new Jeep Wrangler.
I think we tried three times to get M out of the jeep...
but we had to keep looping the neighborhood to calm him down after each attempt.

He just loved the wind in his hair and the bumpy ride.
I have to admit, I did a little too.
Thanks Uncle Mino!

milestone

Myer went to nursery for the first time Sunday.
Eeek! Ack! Blah! Wha?? Whoa.

Jake dropped him off, he walked in, and didn't even blink.
I didn't drop him off thinking we would make a scene,
but after no such scene, I stepped around the corner a little hurt there were no tears.
I stood in plain view, and I got second place to the plethora of cars.
That went smoother than expected.
Too smoothly.

And he didn't even want to come home.
Sniff sniff.

my mother

Attended the Relief Society Broadcast with my beautiful mother Saturday night.
We also ate some yummy homemade Asian food and enjoyed beautiful scenery beforehand.
I loved hanging out with my mom.

And I loved the message from Saturday night's meeting.
Even down to the Hymns, it felt so comforting.
Hope your weekend was just as lovely.
Keep the Faith.
