the fire's out

The fire continued to burn Wednesday, moving south east one part going up and the other moving down.  The few helicopter planes that were trying to fight this fire, were only left to lay down tardent to prevent the fire from damaging homes.  The flames were too big, causing too much smoke to see where the flames were to actually fight it.  And we were still waiting for the special team of forest fire fighters to get here.  Thursday rolled around and it started to RAIN.  Not forecasted mind you.  And it was the perfect kind of rain-- a downpour would have caused mudslides, but this steady slow rain seeped through the burnt-waxy earth to extinguish the fire.  And to top it all off, a double rainbow over the very mountains made an appearance.  I can't make this stuff up.  A miracle.  The next day still had low temperatures, but the clouds cleared enough for the fire fighters to find existing hot spots.  So the rest of the week and this week we've had helicopters monitoring the fire making sure it doesn't flare up again.  But I think it's out because of that unexpected blessed rain.  How could it not.  The perfect ending.
